The film is a riot (to some), that is also able to show the dynamics of friendships, and how to literally overcome the worst things in life together

(Henderson, 2013).

The use of religious ideology in 'This is the End', is able to retell the popular mythology of Christianity

(Brody, 2013).

 

 

It takes a traditional religious concept,  the Apocalypse,

and secularizes it for a contemporary, popular audience.

 

 

Some may say that secularization destroys religion, while others protest that it merely blurs the line between sacred and popular.

 

 

 

Instead of using the Western concept of apocalypse,

which is inevitable cosmic cataclysm, the film focuses

on humans avoiding the end, which may be more

comforting to the public.

 

 

Instead of ruining religious concepts, pop culture has provided an alternate vision to those where religion has become less relevant and responsive

(Oswalt, 1998).
